Meet the Good Food Box

The Good Food Box (GFB) program provides access to fresh, quality produce at bulk, wholesale pricing. The program runs monthly. Pick-up days are the second Thursday of each month between 12:30 & 4:30 p.m.in Killaloe

 

Orders & payments will be due 1 week before pick-ups. Each GFB costs $20 and includes an assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables. Variety and quantities vary month to month based on what’s on sale and what’s in season. 

 

For an example of what you can expect, one GFB contained: 2 lb bag onions, 2 lb bag carrots, 5 lb bag potatoes, 1 head iceberg lettuce, 1 cucumber, 1 pint cherry tomatoes, 1 head broccoli, 1 kiwi, 2 pears, 5 bananas, 4 apples, and 4 oranges.

FAQ's

To order, please fill out the order form below. You need to fill out an order form each month you wish to receive a box. This program does not offer a subscription option. Please remember orders and payments are due one week before pick-ups (the Thursday BEFORE the second Thursday of each month).

Any orders received after the deadline will not be processed until the following month.

You can pay by bringing in your $20 in person to the Community Resource Centre in Killaloe or by

e-transferring us at killaloefoodbank@gmail.com (please make the question "what program is this for" and the  password "goodfood")

We are offering this program to the community in partnership with the following organizations: Killaloe Food Bank and Community Resource Centre with funding from the Sisters of St Joseph.

FAQs

  • Who is Good Food Box for?”: “Everyone! Anyone can order a $20 produce box. This is not a subsidized program and is therefore available to the entire community, regardless of your economic status. We do, however, collect donations to provide FREE food boxes to families who cannot afford a $20 box. See the ‘Can I donate to the GFB program?’ question & answer below.

  • Can I choose what comes in my GFB?: No. Our supplier selects a variety of fruits and vegetables based on what’s on sale and in season each month. We have no control over what produce comes month to month.

  • What if I don’t like something that comes in my GFB?:  We encourage you to pay-it-forward! Find a neighbour, family member, or friend who could use what you won’t.

  • Who is our supplier?:  Our supplier is Quattrocchi Food Services based out of Smiths Falls, Ontario.

  • Can I set up a subscription so that I don’t have to order each month?: No, we are unable to offer subscription plans.

  • Can I send someone else to pick up my order? Absolutely! Just tell the person picking up to let us know on pick up day!

  • Can I donate to the GFB program?: Yes! We accept donations towards GFBs that get donated to low-income individuals in our community each month. Any donation over $20 is eligible for a charitable tax receipt. If you would like to donate to the Good Food Box please reach out. 

  • How can I receive a free GFB?: If you are in need of assistance and would like to inquire about receiving one of our free GFBs, please email killaloefoodbank@gmail.com

Sign ups are now CLOSED for February. Sign ups for the March food box will begin mid February. 

If you require financial assistance to get a box please let us know in your message. Additionally let us know what community (Killaloe or Whitney) you will be picking your Food Box in.
